Machine Head

It's a good thing we're all robots -- human beings were too fragile anyway. Things sure got a little more interesting the day those scientists mindscanned us and launched our feeble bodies to the moon so we could live on earth as androids controlled by our minds, huh? Sure, people still got sued, and they still fell in love, but no one has to worry about disease, injury, or even death. Just the other day, my neighbor fell off the roof, and then just went inside and made a sandwich. Okay, maybe our technology hasn't quite caught up to this cutting edge era of existence -- but readers of the award-winning sci-fi author Robert J. Sawyer are very familiar with living life in the future. Sawyer has penned more than 20 novels, and has just released Wake, the second installment in his WWW trilogy. Fans will now have the opportunity to hear the talented writer speak about his craft during his guest lecture at the University of Texas at Dallas. Join him at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday for this free event. For more information, call 972-883-4940 or visit utdallas.edu/ah/centers/values.html.
Wed., Sept. 15, 7:30 p.m., 2010
