Not-So-Mellow Yellow

The yellow jersey of the Tour de France has long been synonymous with Lance Armstrong, and rightly so. No one else can say they've won the biggest cycling race seven consecutive years AND beaten cancer. And though he returned from retirement to win third place in the race last year, a new documentary made by Gripped Films follows Team HTC-Columbia, an international pro cycling team, during the 2009 Tour de France. Chasing Legends takes viewers on a two-wheeled roller coaster ride of the grueling 3,500-kilometer race as the team and nearly 200 cyclists snake through the mountains and winding roads of Western Europe. The film captures their 3-week journey with footage taken by cameramen strapped onto the back of motorcycles and hanging out of car windows, as well as interviews with coaches and cyclists including sprinter Mark Cavendish, a Brit who in 2008 became known as one of the fastest sprinters in the world and won six of the 21 stages in the 2009 race, including the coveted final stage at Champs Elysees. The film makes its Texas debut at the Studio Movie Grill, 11170 N Central Expy, at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets are $15 each with proceeds benefiting Children's Medical Center of Dallas.
