Earnestly, Speaking, Of Course

It's important to be honest, but, in Oscar Wilde's comedy of misidentification, it's way more important to be -- yep I'm going to say it -- Ernest. Wilde's play, a satire of Victorian mores and social obligations, was a hit when it premiered in 1895, showing off the Irish playwright's wit at the height of his popularity and powers. The Importance of Being Earnest is all about mistaken identity and a guy named Ernest (a guy everybody wants to be). The Denton Community Theatre, 214 W. Hickory, Denton, is putting on the show. Tickets are $20, $10 for students. For information, call 940-382-1915 or visit dentoncommunitytheatre.com.
Fridays, Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Sept. 17. Continues through Sept. 26, 2010
