They say all is fair in love and war. Both can be painful, overly stressful and highly demanding. But sometimes, love can be even more treacherous than war. So is the case in Betrayal, a play by Harold Pinter. The story follows Emma, a woman looking once more for passion after her recent marriage ended. But her new fling isn't with just any man -- but her former lover, who also happens to be her husband's dear friend. As Emma and her beau reflect on their steamy seven-year affair -- all of the little lies and secrets that crept into their former relationship come to the surface. The play uses subtle nuances and powerful language to tell the story of these two lives intertwined. The result is a pretty accurate mirror of human nature -- and a stunning look at how we sometimes choose to treat our significant others. The show marks the start of the theater's 20th season, so come out to celebrate another year of great performances. Betrayal opens on Friday, September 10 and continues through Saturday, October 9 at the Kitchen Dog Theater, located in the McKinney Avenue Contemporary in Uptown. Wednesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Sept. 10. Continues through Oct. 9, 2010
