Arthur Miller was one of the greatest playwrights of the 20th century (Death of a Salesman anyone?). but he almost quit being a playwright. After his first play tanked on Broadway, Miller swore if All My Sons failed that he'd quit the business. The play is set just after World War II. Factory owner Joe Keller didn't go to jail for shipping out the faulty airplane materials that caused the deaths of 21 pilots, but his family finds out he was guilty. Things go downhill from there--Miller wasn't a fan of the Greek tragedies for nothing--but the ride (which covers denial versus truth, hope versus despair and illusions versus reality) is worth the tears. See for yourself at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through October 16 at the University Theatre, 800 W. Campbell Road in Richardson. Tickets are $15. Call 972-883-2552 or visit ah.utdallas.edu.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Oct. 7. Continues through Oct. 16, 2010
