When the Lights Go Out
Wait Until Dark--first staged in 1966 and written by Frederick Knott--tells the story of Susy, a woman forced to confront three hoodlums who've come to her apartment looking for a very valuable doll. If that doesn't sound too suspenseful, try this on for size--Susy is blind and the doll is filled with heroin. In Theatre Arlington's version of the play, the role of Susy is played by Erica Harte, who (along with director Melanie Mason) spent time with specialists from Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth to prepare herself for the challenging role. Considering the final two scenes of this nail-biter of a play take place completely in the dark, you might want to do a little prep work too--maybe an extra pair of underwear, just in case...Wait Until Dark runs 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays through November 14.
