Running for Rings

Sonic the Hedgehog doesn't look or act like an actual hedgehog at all. Have you ever seen a hedgehog in real life? First of all, they're not blue. Also, they don't wear tennis shoes or walk around on their hind legs, and most importantly, the last thing a hedgehog would ever do is fight someone. That being said, it's impressive that the forces behind the Sonicon 2010 Anime and Gaming Convention have decided to allow actual hedgehogs into the event. In fact, their tagline is, "the only anime convention for hedgehogs and humans," and they mean it. The 3-day convention, which takes place this weekend at the Southfork Hotel and Ranch, 1600 N. Central Expwy in Plano, boasts a lot of events, including karaoke, gaming, vendors, an art market, guest appearances from voice actors from the game and a huge concert Saturday night featuring Bowling for Soup, Peelander-Z and more. But, in addition to these seemingly appropriate activities for an anime convention, Sonicon will have a charity raffle for the North American Hedgehog Society, as well as an actual hedgehog show sanctioned by the NAHS, with judges and everything. Fantastic! 3-day passes are $50 at the door. For more information, visit dfwhedgehogshow.com.
