By Lauren Drewes Daniels
At 70, renowned country and rock icon Levon Helm can still kick some serious ass. Forever known for his drumming and vocal skills demonstrated in The Band, Helm's career has surprisingly surged in recent years. His 2007 comeback album, Dirt Farmer, earned the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album and the follow up, 2009's Electric Dirt, won the first ever Grammy Award for Best Americana Album. This year, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him No. 91 in the list of The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.

All of these accolades are well-deserved, too, as Helm's voice and drumming have graced some of the most timeless music to come out of the '60s. If only known for singing The Band's "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and "The Weight," Helm's rock 'n' roll status would remain secure. But add to that the contribution Helm made to some of Dylan's most transcendent recordings, as well as his most recent successes, and you have the makings of a true legend of American music.
Adding heft to a bill that hardly needs it is Ray Lamontagne, a singer-songwriter of some note himself. Lamontagne's gruff vocals and solid way with words should provide the perfect beginning to a blissful evening of honest and unwavering roots music.
