They say that everything's bigger in Texas. Unfortunately, however, New York has us beat when it comes to public menorahs--the 9-armed candelabrum erected every year near Central Park at 59th Street and 5th Avenue reaches 32 feet into the sky and weighs 4,000 pounds. Still, with the oversized menorah on display at the Galleria, 13350 Dallas Parkway, Dallas is no slouch. The menorah, now in its third year of Hanukkah display, measures 15 feet high and was created by the Chabad of Dallas. The public menorah is on display on Level 1 of the mall, near the Guest Reception Center, and Rabbi Dubrawsky of Chabad of Dallas will light a candle at 5 p.m. each night of Hanukkah, Wednesday through December 9. After the first night's lighting, enjoy entertainment, snacks and family fun. Even if you're not Jewish, you can enjoy the spectacle for free and then celebrate the holiday with some oily or cheesy foods (Which you were going to do anyway, right? It's the American way.).
