Cosmic Kringle

Apparently, there is a really bad movie from 1964 called Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and it has a 2.3 out of 10 rating on the Internet Movie Database, which is weird because Gigli (2003) has a 2.4. The plot of the film involves Martians that kidnap Santa and take him to Mars to give Christmas to their children, who have presumably been just as nice as the Earth children that get all the goodies. But, being the selfish Earthlings that they are, two kids from the blue planet stow away on the spaceship and go to Mars to "save" Santa. But if St. Nick has time to deliver presents all over the world in one night, then why can't he make a quick stop on Mars as well? Can't we all just get along? See for yourself in Level Ground Arts' play based on the film, Santa Claus vs. the Martians, which shows through December 18 at KD Studio Theatre, 2600 N. Stemmons Freeway. Show times are 8:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $20 ($10 for kids), and Santa himself will be there before and after the play to take pictures with your spoiled little earth children. Call 214-630-5491 or visit levelgroundarts.com for tickets and info.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8:15 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Nov. 26. Continues through Dec. 18, 2010
