Questioning 12/23/2010 9:52:00 PM
And, have you ever known someone who was a professional - doctor, lawyer, teacher, even, who was educated in Mexico and immigrated to the US, legally or illegally? I've known immigrants, legal, from many other countries in Europe, Africa, or countries like Cuba or Argentina, who were educated in their homeland before coming to the US. Never a Mexican.

Most immigrants just want to work and make a better life for their families.Who will work if they dont ? Most americans sure wont do hard work.
-
Kathy Green 12/08/2010 3:56:00 PM
Yeah, they report that the immigrants pay taxes but fail to mention as they mentioned in the article above that the immigrants get all their tax money back when they file income taxes and they collect from claiming tax credits and get money from the U.s. Treasury. THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT FOOLING THE REAL AMERICANS! They know they are not fooling us but they also know they have the advantage and we can do nothing about it short of banning together. With the internet I do not understand why Americans cannot do something about the newer American governments that are greedy and stealing the middle class and poor to death. Why can other countries make changes and we cannot? We need to oust every person in our congress and Obama and start over with the working class in charge.
-
Kathy Green 12/08/2010 3:41:00 PM
No wonder the government fights so hard to keep illegal immigrants! The greedy communist American government wants the all-might tax from the illegal immigrants. Where oh where has America gone! To hell, that's where. Immigratns are suing to NOT speak English. What right do they have? None, except what the newer governments in America have given them. America needs to change it's name! It is no longer America. It is greedy government, the rich get richer the poor get poorer - communism - the Soviet Union. America has been trampled on by its own government. It is an insult to call this place America.

Would this be the reason the US has fallen in rank in the world of education? Has anyone looked at immigration from this perspective? Also I decided to go with neither the company or the guy for the yard work, He was way cheaper, plus he does an excellent job and would have went with him but will wait until the spring.

Well here in Dallas, Texas the illegal immigrants are allowed to receive any and evertything that an American citizen can receive. I am a very hard working women with three kids and because the school districts here are allowing so many illegal immigrants to go to the schools, we don't have many english speaking classes so that means, there is probably 25 to 30 students if not more to one teacher. Also I don't receive any benfits from the state of Texas and with that in mind I can't even get reduced lunch for my children so for the three of them to eat lunch only everyday at school I'm paying $30 a week for them it's ridiculous, I THINK I'M WITH THE REPUBLICANS ON THIS ISSUE, WE NEED BETTER BORDER CONTROL.
-
Lori 12/06/2010 5:04:00 PM
"The Center for Comparative Immigration Studies in San Diego begs to differ. It found 75 percent of undocumented California immigrants paid income taxes in 2006."
I'd like to see a link to that report, with source citations....

My family operated a large scale cattle operation most of my life. Yes we worked "wets" or illegals or whatever you want to call them. They rented a house and lived with 10 or 12 or so in a 2 bedroom house. They lived very frugally. They stayed about 8 months out of the year and then went home for 4 months. The system worked really well. They didn't bring their kids or wives or anybody else with them. NOW because the borders or so tight and they can't go home to visit their families they bring all of them with them. This fills up our schools and other things such as hospitals. We need real immigration reform that allows the workers to come and work for 9 months or a year or so and go back home. They must pay taxes, etc. on the wages they earn and must be able to verify this to be eligible to get another work visa. Once the system is implemented you will see a drastic reduction in the amount of illegal families living here. Most of them don't come from the narco-terroism areas and would much prefer to have their families back at their hometowns in Mexico. If you question what I'm telling you, just ask one. Assuming you speak Spanish or they speake English. Eitheir way, the system has to be changed by congress. What we are doing now obviously isn't working.
-
John Key 12/06/2010 3:24:00 PM
I've been saying this for years. They pay into the system and don't get anything back and they're happy just to have a job. In addition, for the most part they work harder than our own citizens.

enoughaleady123, you made the big point of the whole discussion. You know Jose does good, quality, conscientious work, AND he charges 25% for what the guy with the shiny trucks and Yellow Pages add will charge. Dupilicate that scenario across the construction industry (mostly residential because you need to be "bona fide" to enter into large, commercial contracts) and you come to the root of the illegal alien dilemma. If it weren't for these hoards of illegals, everything built over the last 25 years would have cost exponentially more. If we really want to be rid of illegal aliens, we have got to face the reality of our cost of living will increase, AND to look out across a construction crew and be disgusted by the lack of work ethic we witness from our fellow Americans. I know it pi$$e$ me off when I see that.

Read the article, knew, without looking at the comments, that the research would be rejected out of hand. Probably the same people who swear by eye witness accounts.

People: If you're going to attempt to refute the article with wild figures (the "I knew this guy who" anecdotal stuff won't cut it) please cite your sources, otherwise those reading the comments section may assume your information springs from your warped little racist psyches. Just a friendly tip.
-
Scott 12/05/2010 3:34:00 PM
There's the truth and then there's the truth. This article told part of the truth and that's a disservice. Countering it with racism does't help. Yes, we need to control the border, no, Mexicans aren't uncouth, thieves without a "culture". No, illegal aliens don't have a right to use our resources without paying taxes but these people live in the most corrupt country in the western hemisphere and they are one shallow river away from a better life Totally understandable. We need to stop NAFTA and shut down all the maquilladores until Mexico starts treating Mexicans better. THAT will fix our immigration problems.

Ha! If you believe this article, then I have some beachfront property along the Trinity River to sell to you.

I do know a few illegals and those, who became naturalized under the Reagan's amnesty. Rumor has it that Reagan wanted to weaken the unions. He succeeded. He also weakened the US labor market. Many Hispanics do have their own business. I do not think they pay taxes, including business sales taxes. Some collect it, but few pay it. They don't know the laws. They don't care what the laws are. They praise Mexico, wave the Mexican flag, send money to Mexico, travel back to Mexico, and feed off of the US. Why not a thorough, honest report? I've never seen one. Viva Arizona. They have it right. They have 49% illegals and a huge crime problem. Consider the Mexican illegal criminals as terrorists, bringing in their drugs, violence, kidnapping, sex slavery, etc.
-
ricky 12/05/2010 3:32:00 AM
They are not "unauthorized Immigrants".they are Criminal Aliens!!And they costy Texas $4.7 billion a year!!
-
Jovina 12/05/2010 3:25:00 AM
This article does not designate between federal, state, county, and city revenue and benefits. If you go down to Parkland Hospital, almost no one is white. Most are Hispanics and black. Like 99.999999%. I am blond caucasion. They all have cell phones, etc. This is true for emergency and non-emergency patients.
Take a look at Section 8, food stamps, medicaid, crime, etc. None of them have taken driver's ed or have auto insurance. Racial profiling? The windows are tinted black. I can only guess by the music blaring as they arrive home on my street. Parallel parking? They have no clue. Noise? They're not bad neighbors; just not good neighbors. They draw attention to themselves all day long with their honking horns, loud voices, loud music, etc.
The girl had a baby at 16. The youngest son dropped out of school last year without telling anyone. Now, GISD picks him up and drops him off at his door. GISD has 49% Hispanics. Who is paying the taxes for their education? Etc. Etc. Etc.
Please do not isolate and skew facts. Twenty million illegal aliens are not welcome here. They do not pay their way. They cost us in thousands of ways. Still, they are illegal and unwanted. I can't get away with breaking the laws the way they do. I have to have a driver's license and insurance and pay for my own medical. As well as theirs.

One of the local TV stations did a story on babies born to illegal immigrants at Parkland hospital. Ron Anderson gave an interview as part of the story. He estimated 50% of the babies in the nursery at Parkland hospital were born to illegals. Footage of the nursery was shown, and the total number of babies in it was stunning.
I have known for decades that illegals pay in far more to Social Security than they get back in Social Security. Benefits under Medicare for pregnant mothers is a different story. Any discussion of taxes and illegals is incomplete without looking at the actual cost of hospital and emergency room expenditures for instant citizenship.

enoughaleady123 12/04/2010 2:21:00 PM
if the subcontractor masonary person doesn't pay taxes...how in the world does he pay into social security for his workers if they are illegal too??? So the illegals that have stolen social security numbers are paying into this unclaimed earning suspense file? It is a slippery trickery slope. I need some work done at my house, I called a company for an estimate which I thought was expensive. I called a guy who used to do my lawn, now I don't know if he is illegal, he doesn't speak a lot of english (does that make him illegal) but he is cheap and does really good work (I often tip him extra because his price is so low), his estimate is cheaper. I really want to go with the company.

Dan J 12/04/2010 6:37:00 AM
Amon - you are right on. We don't hate anybody; we really respct the work and effort they put out to support their families trying to make a better life. Sam - I concur with you 100%. I sold 5 acre "Ranchitos" and the mexican masonry subcontractor jefe was my target market. There are alot of people out there in the construction business that make LOTS of money because they don't compete with the guy who pays insurance, payroll taxes, or income taxes which means they can be cheaper than the legit competitor. Don't drink the koolaid, people. A point made in this article that, in my opinion, is the real issue behind the gov'ts lack of resolve to fix this is the fact that millions are paid into Social Security unclaimed Earings SUspense File that will never be claimed by the earner. It's a lot of money that they can dole out to get more votes for their job security.

I really don' t get it...I really don't get it. I've experienced the rudest people from mexico. I mean like they don't know anything. uncouth: lacking refinement, cultivation, manners, coarse people. Culture, there is no culture unless it is lawlessness, drinking, loud polka music, trash, etc. What am I missing here?
-
Kerry Goodwin 12/03/2010 4:43:00 PM
This doesn't take into account that county hospitals and many city services are paid through property taxpayers. In the case of renters (i.e. apartments, etc.) the owner pays the taxes owed on his/her property from rents received. Additionally other governmental expenses are covered by sales taxes. Everyone, without regard to legal status, pays taxes. The use of the hot button "tax leech" argument is false and misleading. If you don't want illegal immigrants in our community quit hiring them and they go away on their own.

Amon 12/03/2010 3:32:00 PM
This guy is something.. Everything he writes is crap propaganda. I have to wonder what rock he lives under? Its obvious he never stands in line at walmart.. or has been to an emergency room..or has any kids in school..know anyone who prepares taxes? know any bail bondsmen? Terry you dont seem to really know anything about whats really happening out here.. resume keeping your head in the sand i guess. as a side note.. im not anti aliens. these are the hardest working people out there, imo. We texans reap benefits from them being here. Just dont say dopey stuff like the positives out-number the negatives. We need to seal the border , control who comes in and issue more work visas and tax these workers.
-
Ricky 12/03/2010 1:31:00 PM
After reading the comments for this propaganda,it's obvious the only people you are fooling is the illegals, who want to believe this load of crap so they have something to figh for.Three other sources of information are 1.The Center For Immigration Studies 2.Numbers USA 3.Immigration counters.com and of course you might try asking the good 'ol US Government, this is one subject they don't lie about and cover up,too much.Illegals are a DRAIN!!!
-
Ricky 12/03/2010 1:17:00 PM
Come to Texas and try to get food stamps,or go to the public hospital(say,Parkland Hospital in Dallas)and you will find the lines are long(24 hour wait at parkland for illness)and full on non-english speaking hispanics.Factor in that $70 million was spent by the hospital JUST for baby deliveries in '08,figure the average number of kids.Figure that they get hospital, food stamps, you know they get other services, you know they probably lie and cheat on tax returns and get money back(why not?what, are they going to get audited?arrested?Come on THEY ARE A DRAIN ON OUR SYSTEM,DON'T BELIEVE THE LIES,California is BROKE Why you ask DUH!
-
Frank 12/03/2010 12:40:00 AM
Taught for several years in a secondary ed school which had 50% hispanics, many of whom were children of illegal immigant. The school was required to conduct English speaking language courses for these students, many were on the free breakfast and lunch programs, and many did not want to be in school as required by law but wanted to work so they were disruptive and intentionally damaged school property trying to be kicked out. These are only some of the hidden costs of tolerating illegals in this country.
-
lsmft 12/02/2010 11:43:00 PM
Immigration does not have to be illegal. Many people come to this country legally and contribute greatly to American society. To praise those that come here illegally as some kind of heroes is a slap in the face of those who follow the law. If one comes to this country illegally, they have already made the commitment to not obey U.S. law. And for this there are those Americans that promise to support them. What kind of future do they expect for this country?
-
Yokel 12/02/2010 10:04:00 PM
Let's assume all of what was in that article is true. Why do they get free emergency Medicaid benefits when they're pregnant? Pregnancy is 100% preventable, therefore not an emergency. If you are too poor, or illegal, don't get pregnant. The rest of us pay for it which makes those of us, who aren't leeching off the system, decide to only have a single child or two because we have to be responsible about it since others are not.

This article gives figures from an agency called FAIR without even bothering to tell us who FAIR is. Then proceeds to tell us that they (FAIR) are wrong about what they have to say. An article such as this, filled with gratuitous statements, can be easily refuted by an equally gratuitous statement. All one has to do is say, "nuh-uh"...

Silver Dragon 12/02/2010 2:54:00 PM
Comment from Sam - You client is breaking the law by hiring illegal immigrants. Does he pay them in cash? No taxes. He should be fined like other companies that hire illegals. I hope that you are a lawyer - you are covering up an illegal business enterprise.
-
Sam 12/02/2010 3:58:00 AM
I represented an illegal who wanted to purchase a home. He had lived in the US illegally for 14 years. He owned a masonry business. He built patios, fireplaces, walkways, etc. He did nice work. Charged a lot of money. Those things are expensive. He was the boss - not a worker. He owned it. He hired other illegals to do the actual work. He never filed a tax return. He never paid a dime in taxes. 3%???? Ha, ha, ha, ha. I have a bridge I want to sell you.
