Lights Fantastic

Gigantic holiday light displays have become a popular novelty of the Christmas season in recent years, but back when we were young, we slummed it old-school and just weaved in and out of neighborhoods trying to find at least three houses in a row that had decided to decorate. For us, that was a holiday light display. Throw in some hot chocolate and some festive holiday music and we were damn close to being the Griswalds. Nowadays, as with most things that used to take some real work, enjoying Christmas light splendor is as easy as driving to the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary for the 2nd annual Heard Holiday Trail of Lights. The event will feature thousands of Christmas lights, live entertainment and hand-delivered holiday fun for the whole family. The spectacle is a fundraiser for the Heard Museum and runs Friday through Sunday. Tickets are $4 to $7; for more info, visit heardmuseum.org.
