Toast with Champagne and Schnitzel

You can tuck in to a fancy schmancy dinner before toasting at midnight. That's all well and good. It's also, like, so Central Standard Time. At Plano's Bavarian Grill, 221 W. Parker Road, you can make a reservation now for a 4 p.m. seating. If "Ein frohes Neues Jahr" doesn't mean much to you, that gives you just enough time to chow down and enjoy the music of the The Alpenmusikanten Band before ringing in the New Year when the clock strikes midnight in Munich (5 p.m. local time). You can also enjoy a la carte menu items, and live accordion and tuba music, in the Bier Garten from 4 to 8 p.m., after which the area will turn into a quieter option for dining as space is available until 10 p.m. Ongoing seating is available (with reservation) in the dining room after the first seating disperses. Special menu items include Jaegger Schnitzel, Rinder Rouladen, a Wurstplatte with sausages, Huehnerbrust nach "Gaertnerin Art", poached Lachsfilet and more. Enjoy a complimentary champagne toast after your meal or at midnight. Gulasch soup will be served after midnight in observation of the Bavarian tradition. Fri., Dec. 31, 4 p.m., 2010
