What does a sparkling, high-fashion display window have in common with a well-known collegiate art gallery? Artistic merit, of course! The Neiman Marcus Art Collection originated in 1951 when Stanley Marcus, son of Neiman's founder Herbert Marcus, purchased a mobile by Alexander Calder. Ever since then the famous department store has been combining classy designers with classic artwork throughout its stores. Celebrate Neiman's art appreciation with this year's presentation of works from eight local Dallas and Fort Worth Neiman artists at the University of North Texas Art Gallery. The exhibition, Collections, Cultures and Collaborations, includes art from UNT Professor Vincent Falsetta as well as UNT alumnus Jesus Moroles. The Neiman Marcus Art Collection presentation runs Tuesday through February 12 at UNT's art gallery, one block west of Mulberry and Welch Street. Gallery hours are 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Admission is free. For more info call 940-565-4316 or visit gallery.unt.edu.
