Climbing for Cancer

Generally speaking, 5K runs are the athletic event du jour for organizations trying to raise money for very worthwhile causes. However, after one or two kilometers, one might find oneself bored and ready to give in and walk the rest of the race--or maybe that's just me. But come on, running gets old very fast unless you are doing it on a treadmill in front of a television. To that end, the folks at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society are sponsoring the third annual Big D Climb to benefit organizations fighting blood cancers. The actual Climb is up the 52 flights (1040 steps) of stairs--way better than five kilometers of sidewalk, right?--at Dallas' Fountain Place and the first person and first team to the top win. The event takes place this Saturday. For more registration and other information, visit lls.org.
