Maze of Bowie

Yeah, it's a new year, and everyone is making resolutions. People are, in fact, asking me, "What is YOUR resolution? What do YOU vow to do differently?" And, since it's now nearing the end of January, perhaps it's about time I made one. I'm thinking about doing something along the lines of "Face your fears," because I'm actually already doing it. Take, for example, my greatest childhood fear. It wasn't the dark, or big dogs or even the A/C unit in the attic next to my room, which sounded pretty terrifying most of the time. It was Labyrinth. I was terrified of the whole thing--losing a baby, having that baby tossed around by weird creatures and a strange man wearing too much makeup, having to navigate a creepy labyrinth, etc. But, a few weeks ago, I decided to give the film another chance, and all I can say is, holy cannoli, I was a wimpy kid. The only thing I find the least bit scary now is how tight David Bowie's pants are, and even that is considered a major highlight by some viewers. See for yourself how non-threatening (and fun!) it is midnight Friday and Saturday at the Inwood Theatre, where it's showing as part of the Midnight Madness series.
