You probably thought the coolest parts of your high school Botany textbook were the pictures, and aloud, Earth, Petal, Wing may sound like the sequence to summon Captain Planet, but it's not. It's an art exhibit at Texas Discovery Gardens that will feature naturalistic paintings based on the real-life observations of two artists. The artists' renderings in acrylic and watercolor should give the works more personality than that old science book, or even your old science teacher for that matter. The exhibit includes acrylic paintings, sketches and diagrams from the two Texas-based artists, Cynthia Padilla and Julio Suarez, and runs through April 24. The exhibit is free with admission ($4, $3 for seniors and $2 for children). Call 214-428-7476 or visit texasdiscoverygardens.org.
