Twelve By Ten

In 1952, artists including Jackson Pollock and Clifford Still were introduced to American art lovers in the Museum of Modern Art exhibit Fifteen Americans, and this was just one of curator Dorothy Canning Miller's landmark Americans exhibitions. Taking inspiration from the series of exhibits, the Barry Whistler Gallery presents a dozen works by 10 artists in its ongoing 12 Abstractions. Ranging from paintings by Bill Jensen and Terrell James to "large-scale geometric abstractions" by Mark Williams and Leslie Wilkes, the ambitious display shows all manner of abstract works, including some by Dallas' own Lorraine Tady and John Pomara, and John Holt Smith from Fort Worth. Check them out at the Barry Whistler Gallery, 2909-B Canton St. Call 214-939-0242 or visit barrywhistlergallery.com for more info.
Wednesdays-Saturdays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: Jan. 22. Continues through March 5, 2011
