What have you been doing for the last 50 years? OK, maybe you haven't even been alive that long yet, but for those of you who have: Is there any one thing you can honestly say you've stuck with for the last half century? No. The answer you're looking for is no. Sure, at first you thought you wanted to be a doctor, but then you couldn't afford to pay for medical school, so you became a waiter, but then you got bored with waiting tables, so you joined the army. And so on, and so on, until it's 50 years later, and you wouldn't dream of going back to that gig you had back in the day. That, however, is because you're not Hal Holbrook. If you were Hal Holbrook, not only would you have played Deep Throat in All the President's Men, but you would have been performing your one man show about Mark Twain, Mark Twain Tonight, since you were a young up-and-comer in the '50s.
