At first I thought all the anti-Leppert stuff was just some kind of strange (unfunny) joke. Now, it's becoming more apparent that it's a simple case study of political science 101: Go after the guy you fear most.
Leppert was a great Mayor and will make a great Senator. He was in two gay pride parades because as a local leader, you don't pick and choose who you want to serve, you serve everyone, and he did so admirably. It wasn't as though he was a strong gay marriage supporter who then did an about face. Seems to me he should deserves respect for being true to his convictions while also reaching out to those across the aisle in his time as Mayor.
All I continue to see daily is more and more nonsense about government spending, debt, and government inefficiency. Leppert got that as Mayor, and he'll get it as Senator...and that's exactly what we need.
