If they could time travel to the current century, Renaissance sculptors would probably wonder if marble and iron were scarce resources. Contemporary sculptors have come a long way since their classical counterparts began rendering royalty into stone, and it's almost as common for artists to use grass, hemp fibers and wax as the tools of the trades. Polish sculptor Pawel Althamer even uses animal intestines in his works, some of which will be on display when the Statuesque exhibition comes to the Nasher Sculpture Center (2001 Flora St.) for a very contemporary outdoor tour. International sculptors Rebecca Warren, Matthew Monahan and Aaron Curry are also among the artists whose figurative sculptures will appear in the collection, the first traveling installations to appear in the Sculpture Garden. The exhibition continues through August 21. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Admission is $5 to $10. For tickets and more information, visit NasherSculptureCenter.org.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: April 9. Continues through Aug. 31, 2011
