More Than Fair Display

The most culturally significant fair in the world, let alone this city, brings artists from around the world to display and sell their creative innovations for days on end. But alas, such performance art as Man Voms Nacho Cheese Post-Gravitron, such culinary masterpieces as deep-fried beer and the display of the most unsettling statue on the planet are still months away, as the State Fair of Texas opens September 30. Until then, you'll have to make do with higher-brow work at the Dallas Art Fair. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, 15 galleries will showcase works from a wide variety of media at the Fashion Industry Gallery (f.i.g.), 1807 Ross Ave. in the heart of the Arts District. Tickets and three-day passes range from $15 to $40, with discounts for students, seniors and groups. For details on exhibitors, panel discussions and events, visit dallasartfair.com.
Fri., April 8, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sat., April 9, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sun., April 10, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., 2011
