If you like a good walk and care about healthy kiddos, you should definitely join the March of Dimes annual March for Babies on Saturday at White Rock Lake’s Norbuck Park. The 5-mile walk supports lifesaving research and programs (including professional education, prenatal wellness programs and research grants) that save babies born prematurely or with birth defects. Texans should take special interest in this issue, as our premature birth rate is higher than the national average—which is high enough as it is. Prematurity and birth defects effect every class, race and culture, and have life-long consequences, which often include prohibitively expensive treatments. Come out, get a little exercise and help those babies, y’all. Registration begins at 8 a.m., the march at 9 a.m. To participate or for more information, call 972-669-DIME or visit marchforbabies.org.
