I'm not ashamed -- I've totally watched Celebrity Apprentice this season. And while I occasionally found myself irritated by the scheming of TV personality, author and lawyer Star Jones, I gotta say, she knew how to play the game when she wasn't the project manager. Delegate, work below the radar, call in the big donors and create a case against weaker players. At least, until she was kicked off two episodes ago for...um, well...uh...losing her cool once the entire season after the ever-tearful native Dallasite, Meat Loaf, called her "sweetie" and "young woman" in a way she rightfully found disrespectful. (While a branding failure was cited as the excuse for her dismissal, it seemed pretty clear Trump didn't like the conflict between Jones and Loaf when he accused her of playing poorly with others -- even though John Rich's issue with being called "boy" by Gary Busey earlier in the season ended with Busey "fired.")
That whole "creating a case" thing shouldn't have been much of a shock, really. According to her bio, Jones still holds the best felony conviction rate in the country (31 of 33) from her Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney days in Brooklyn.
Now free from Trump's gaze, the open heart surgery survivor and former tablemate of The View is out and about supporting her latest writing effort, a work of fiction about the cast of a daytime talk show (interesting...), Satan's Sisters, as well as serving as the National Volunteer for the American Heart Association (her chosen charity on Celebrity Apprentice).
Jones is reading from and signing copies of Satan's Sisters (as well as her past non-fiction releases You Have to Stand for Something, or You'll Fall for Anything and Shine: A Physical, Emotional & Spiritual Journey to Finding Love) at 7 p.m. Friday at Barnes & Noble Lincoln Park. The store will begin distributing tickets for the event at the start of business Friday. Only "Group A" ticket-holders will be guaranteed seating and admission, and subsequent ticket groups will be admitted as space and time allows.
Jones is also delivering the keynote address for the Ultimate Women's Expo noon Saturday at the Dallas Convention Center, with a book signing to follow. Admission is $10 with coupons available on the event site. Visit dallaswomensexpo.com.
