Holy Crap: Does Perry Have a Prayer?

Dear, God, let's hope not.

Dear God: OK, Buzz is a little late with cracking wise about "The Response," Governor Rick Perry's national day of prayer and monster truck rally to take place next month in Houston. What? No monster trucks? Why, then, would anyone in his right mind travel to Houston in August for that?

Ah, yes. "Right mind." Answered our own question.

Perry has invited all 49 other governors to join him to pray for the nation's deliverance from the woeful state of moral decline brought about by Washington-bred wickedness, such as treating gay people like citizens. So far, The New York Times (aka Sodom's Broadsheet) says only Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has RSVPed.

A cynic might suggest that's because Kansas is the only place worse than Houston to be in August, but what's the point of being cynical about The Response? You simply can't out-cynical Perry, who scheduled his revival for the week before the Republican Iowa Straw Poll, an important early contest in deciding who should lead the nation and whose past winners include Pat Robertson, Mitt Romney and a tie between Bob Dole and Phil Gramm.

Oh, go ahead and laugh. Roll your eyes when Perry insists his plan to kick up the sawdust with some preachin' and prayin' has nothing to do with running for president as a Tea Party darling. Be offended that his revival is bankrolled by the American Family Association, an organization known for its anti-homosexual vitriol. ("There is hope for America," The Response's website says. "It lies in heaven, and we will find it on our knees." Heh, heh, heh.)

Doesn't matter. People who look at Perry and see a future president won't be persuaded by anything you have to say, Mr. Rational. Writer Katie Sherrod took perhaps the best shot on the Morning News' religion blog, paraphrasing the Gospel of Matthew: "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

Ha. Nice try, but every good Perrypublican knows that even the devil can quote scripture, and that a female progressive Episcopalian feminist activist like Sherrod one day will be roasted to a turn, anyway.

So let Perry have his prayer meeting. In fact, let's all pray that he does eventually win the GOP presidential nomination. If you must have faith in something, believe that American voters will eventually see through this guy. If they can't, then we don't have a prayer.

Tea Party Republicans, Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor and many more prominent Republicans publicly idolize the atheist Ayn Rand. There adoration of Rand was shared by Anton Lavey, founder of the Church of Satan and author of the Satanic Bible. Lavey said, "Satanism is just Ayn Rand's philosophy with ceremony and rituals added". Search Ayn Rand;- Anton Lavey,- Tea Party,-Paul Ryan,-Eric Cantor,- Rush Limbaugh, -Shawn Hannity, -Fox News, -William Hickman, etc. Rand despised Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, all social safety net programs and wanted them abolished. Rand despised Christianity, altruism, and philantrophy and called them, "signs of weakness in a capitalist society". Ayn Rand taught total unabashed selfishness and said,"let starving people starve, don't feed them". Search Mike Wallace video interviews (available online). Since the GOP and the Satanists share the same Godless philosopher,Birds of a feather flock together. I am sure the Satanists welcome all the new GOP converts. "As a man thinks, so is he". Rand despised the poor and the working class and called them "parasites feeding on the wealth accumulated by their intellectual superiors. Search, what have the tea party and Satanists got in common. Last year Texas provided half of the jobs in the USA. Dallas is currently the top city in the USa for jobs, Houston is second. Glenn Beck talked of this not long ago on his show. He said"shouldnt' we be asking the advice of Texas politicians when it comes to running the economy? Texas has not sunk as the rest of the nation has " Anyone with sense should consider Perry for President , considering the good economic record Texas has . Perry is the head of the National Governors Association, something George Bush never accomplished. He is the only governor to serve ten years in office in the history of the United States. He is from a poor family, George Bush never knew the meaning of the word poor. So those who compare him to George Bush are wrong. Obama followers remind me of people who will join a cult . Blind people follow that cult until they meet their own death due to some horrific circumstance that could easily have been avoided had the follower not been blind as a bat.

Anyone that can look at Perry's career, and think he would make a good President, is obviously a product of a Texas education (We're number 46! We're number 46!!)

On the other hand, having the first gay President of the United States would be a real milestone for our country.

Sounds like Patrick Williams woulld be better suited at the Detroit Times, insteads of in Texas. Oh yea, The Detroit Times is about close down and its knd of hard to get a job in Detroit. So, go ahead and bash one of the only governors that are running a state that could provide a job for a political hack like you. also, does Rick Perry offend your feminine side? It appears your biggest objection is him not imbracing what "may" be your chosen lifestyle.

Rick Perry is the Bernie Madoff of politics.

@Matt Elliott99 - Nothing is wrong with it per se, it is the insincerity and obvious politics of it.

Hi. This is a clever post. God good, and worthy of our prayer, though. And, it's exciting that the Governor and others will be gathering people together to pray to God. What is so bad about praying to God, exactly?

Obama's 'Special' Secret
Obama's 'Special' Secret

We all know about the story about Tacky Barracky and his gay choir director 'extra-special' friend who was murdered on 'duh South Side' - right before Obumble ran for President. Search for 'Obama and Gay Choir Director' if you want the details. The killer of Obumble's 'gay special friend' still hasn't been caught. It's almost as if someone didn't want their 'special relationship' to get out.

Gj3...you really make the case to NOT nominate or elect Perry. You think being 46 in education is enviable? cases in point:"...instead(s) of in Texas""...bash ONE of the only governors that ARE running a state...""imbracing"...I am guessing you intended "embracing". But I am sure you get that confused because of your obvious "inbreeding"

The Detroit Times hasn't actually been a paper since 1960. The Detroit Free Press might be what you were referring to...(?)...but maybe facts don't matter. Maybe spelling doesn't matter, either (imbracing = embracing, woulld = would, insteads = instead, knd=kind). And while we're at it, I'm pretty sure the state of Texas isn't providing a job for the writer of this article.

Oops.

Yes, I searched for it and found:"Enquirer Claims Obama Behind Murder of Gay Choir Director of His Church"

That is as good as if it came from Faux News.
