Plum Good Reading

I'm not really a fan of popular fiction. As a librarian on the front lines at a public library, this can be problematic. A patron will approach the reference desk, looking for suggestions, and I have very little to tell them off the top of my head, having to revert to online resources with "read-alikes" and conferring with my colleagues. But if the patron asks for something funny and maybe a mystery, I know exactly where to point her. Years ago, I was talked into trying the first of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, One for the Money. I was hooked. Plum is a bounty hunter who is unlike anything you have ever thought about bounty hunters. She and the rest of Evanovich's cast of misfits will draw you in, too, and keep you laughing and solving crimes. No worries, Evanovich has churned out book after book to keep you entertained, and she will be in Frisco on Friday at the Barnes and Noble at Stonebriar Centre, 2601 Preston Road, signing copies of the latest Plum saga, Smokin' Seventeen (yes, this is the 17th in the series!). Starting at 6 p.m. Please call 972-668-2820 or visit barnesandnoble.com for details.
Fri., June 24, 6 p.m., 2011
