A movie about an insomniac seems like the perfect fit for a midnight feature, even if the the lifestyle depicted in the film involves less Letterman and more punches to the face than one would expect. The Inwood Theater's Midnight Madness series strikes true again with a screening of subversive cult favorite Fight Club. Based on Chuck Palahniuk's violent satirial novel of the same name, Fight Club focuses on such hyper-masculine topics as boy's night out, expensive designer soap and large, hairy man-boobs. Oh, and there's also hand-to-hand combat fit for any episode Ultimate Fighting Championship. The original film might have been a bust at the box office back in the day, but now's the chance to get in on this gritty masterpiece that many missed. So go out on a limb and ignore rule number one. Do talk about fight club. But not too much. Don't want to give away the ending, after all. Screening takes place midnight on Friday and Saturday, July 1 and 2, at the Inwood Theatre, 5458 W. Lovers Lane. Tickets are $7 for students and seniors, $10 for general admission. Call 214-764-9106 or visit landmarktheatres.com for more information.
Sat., July 2, midnight; Sun., July 3, midnight, 2011
