i think that any and everyone who is not happy for this man who has this home is simply HATING!!!!! because they were not bright enough to come up that easy them selves, SMART people get things cheaper and easier than, lets just say( OTHERS) I am happy for you Mr. Robinson to me this was a blessing from God, and you must have deserved this, that is the reason you have it. EVENTUALLY, We all get what we deserve, whether Good or Bad!! Keep the faith in God and who knows what comes next!!? Sincerely, Linda

lol, yeah i loved the whole "i'm not racist. see, my kids play with black kids." i was like no way she just said that with a straight face knowing its going to be printed. and the whole "we're the man" crap. i hate to realize this mindset even exists in this country.
-

i love it how the little guy is made out to be a criminal by people who work for and even responsible for corporations that take advantage of every loophole they can. plus, its not like the man hasnt tried contacting the title holder. i bet the same people are all RINOs that about capitalism at the watercooler, but capitalism in action next door is bad. two-faced trolls i say.

If this was legal, why aren't all the HOMELESS PEOPLE in Dallas doing it?? There are 100's of foreclosed homes that sit VACANT...let's get all the homeless people in these homes then? Yeah. that makes alot of sense.
-

Either way you look at it, this guy is STEALING. and getting away with it complete negates all the HONEST PEOPLE out there who work HARD for what they have. Someone needs to step in and SET this guy straight. It would be a GREAT WORLD INDEED if we could all SQUAT in a vacant home and claim it! But that is unrealistic and is not how our SOCIETY IS set up to be. Work hard, you get what you want. STEAL AND YOU'RE JAILED.

People, like this man's neighbors don't have to be racist, to be squirrels and I say that because I've had a lot of people say and do bad things to me even though I am white as well as they. People irregardless of whatever color can be mean spirited for whatever reason. I call these neighbors squirrels because I believe, given human nature they would have done exactly what this man has done, had they of had the opportunity. After all, how would they feel about a man winning the lottery or inheriting a great sum of money. Some may not like what this man did, but the fact is he did within the confines of the law. If you don't like the law, call your state representative if you know who he is. Aside from that, I applaud him for his fortunate opportunity. We should all be so lucky.
-
Jamaicasqueen77 09/08/2011 9:32:00 PM
The neighbors' feelings of victimization and speculations of theft are truly petty. Their only valid concern is the type of neighbor Mr Robinson is and not how he got the house, since adverse possession is legal. The neighbors are typical of citizens that have ADVERSE emotions to low-income housing, renters, boarders, etc. I am sure they have no idea what pettiness is, so I'll be as plain as possible: If they had stumbled on this opportunity; it would be just fine; but they didn't and there is no easy way to get a piece of the action, so they are malcontents and perfect examples to their children of disliking someone over nothing. They know very little about Mr. Robinson. Suugestion: Take their tiny emotional IQ's to the gym for some strength training.

People in America need this, it gives hope, the little guy winnig. I don't think that woman is a racist after all "she has a black friend" she is mad at the possibility of someone getting something under better terms than she did ( after all she is white and therefore smarter)
-

I love the irony of this all, it seems all the folks in "crackerville" have a problem w/ a smart brother who cleaned up the property and made it a nice place to live. Heaven forbid, somebody who played by the rules and got a home. its another fine example how screwed up things are in Flower Mound and So. Denton Co..

UlikeCrime? 09/05/2011 3:22:00 AM
Ms Bookworm. He entered the property without the consent of the owner. He HAD to do it before he filed in order to confirm it had been abandoned (Maybe a and he addmitted to hireing a locksmith. No bonded locksmith will open someone elses home for you. ITS ILLEAGAL. or if not... post your address...lol....No court will side with him on it due to the intent of the law (judicial review) And by the way if someone says you abandoned your home by driving to the store.... does that make it true HE claims it is abandoned. NO OFFICIAL INTITY HAD DECLARED IT ABANDONED before he broke in. The first police on the scene should have arrested him for tresspassing. breaking & entering etc. but they flinched cuz the law is so unheard of... can you shoot someone then hold up a bible and say "but Im God"
-
slapUtoo 09/05/2011 2:52:00 AM
hmm went back several times re-read and re-read cant find even the first hint that the previous owner did anything but not make the payments. Breaking into a home that you know is not yours, to do an illeagal search, to verify no one was sleeping in the attic. That's against the law, BEEYATCH. I guess if someone defrauded a locksmith and walked though your house "checking" you'd have noooo problem right post address!!
BTW go back to the begining and re-read starting at the first article and the ABC news cast. shamefull why is it always the black guy that brings up the race thing first???
Im black and that burns my ass when someone says ... "they dont like it when i break the law cuz im black" It's a cop out. The reporters ASKED them if it was cuz hes black....I think someone should pimpslap that racist reporter. He brought it up to stir you up...he did....he won...which makes you even weaker than him.
-
HESGONE 09/05/2011 2:23:00 AM
it is not preference we are talking about... its law. He had to break in to search the place or he could not know that no one was in there and if it were mine.... i'd decide to go back home at around 2am and be startled and in fear for my life due to a home intruder who would promptly catch lead texas style. untill leagal forclosure the owner is still the owner no matter where he is taking his summer vaction. just cuz someone is sloppy dont mean they abandoned it.... The lawyers will play either side ask a Judge!!! they are the ones who actually deal with "intention of the law" and this aint it...
-
Scottstone_offshore 09/05/2011 2:05:00 AM
Typical... pointing finger and aint got a clue... Clinton admin decided to force loan companies into giving 250K to people who make less than 100k/yr .. The cause of all the forclosures to start with... living beyond means. Bank of America has been alerted and you can bet they are fast tracking as we speak. He is now "Hostile" . If the owner shows up, the easiest way is... "Mr. Robinson, I now give you permission to stay here.. you are now my 0$ tennant." (with deputy for report) drive to the courthouse and file a motion to evict. gone in 30 days. and yes according to his own story... he tresspassed before he made the "claim" in order for him to determine that no one was already there, he would have to break in and do an illeagal search of the home..... I would guess he has an agreement already with the owner to not show up..... why would anyone say "cool you got for free what i went broke paying for" when all they have to do is say OUT

The SHORT FORM of his birth certificate is ALL that has EVER been offered up to the public. NOT the official, regular LONG FORM birth certificate that EVERYONE ELSE provides for anything requiring a person's birth certificate. I can post a lot of NON-brilliant things obama has done before becoming "President," too, if you'd like. Just let me know and don't cry about what you'll read.
-
Null 09/04/2011 3:09:00 AM
You MORON. Obama is no more BLACK than he is WHITE. His MOTHER is WHITE and his father is BLACK. Now, tell me again, WHY you consider obama BLACK??? America STILL has NOT had the "first black President."

This is what happens when the Republicans wreck our economy and houses get abandoned by owners who give up and morgage companies who go bankrupt.

Ms Bookworm 09/03/2011 4:41:00 AM
You're absolutely right. Clarence Thomas is black and went to college, and he's sure as hell not qualified for much of anything. It's experience, credentials, temperament and intellect that qualify President Obama to be leader of the free world.

You can take Mr. Robinson's two day, $10.000 seminar on how to get a free home. Or, you can take my two minute $10 seminar on why this will not work and is fundamentally wrong. It also sounds like he is practicing law without a licence, with his legal advice to his clients. He is no hero, no genius, and will soon be gone - as it should be.

Ms Bookworm 09/02/2011 5:37:00 AM
How do I know PRESIDENT Obama is brilliant? Well, let's see: I can hear, and I can read, and I can think. But never mind that. Here are his academic credentials from institutions that you MAY have heard of (although I'm not sure you have): B.A. - Columbia University; J.D. (that's a law degree, dear) -- Harvard Law; Professor of Constitutional Law -- University of Chicago Law School. These records are all open, as is the record of his birth. If you weren't so blinded by hatred, you'd already know that. TAKE YOUR MEDS!
-
Ms Bookworm 09/02/2011 5:30:00 AM
Are you a neighbor? What proof do you have that he broke in? Were you there? Did you help him break in? He's neither thief nor liar, having taken possession LEGALLY. And why do you make assumptions about what "he could never afford?" Stop being so damn judgmental, and stop stereotyping, lest your own glass house end up in shards.
-
curmudgeonista 09/02/2011 3:45:00 AM
When I first saw the story on the news, I asked "how did he get in the house? If he broke in, didn't he break the law?" Apparently he did break-in. Why else would he give 3 different stories? I am not jealous of the man, but I am so tired of people thinking they can/deserve to get something for nothing. I work my ass off every month to keep making my mortgage payments. It would not occur to me to try to find a way to get a house without working for it. Guess it's that damn, uptight, anglo cultural background.
-
Jonkay3 09/02/2011 2:31:00 AM
So you prefer to leave the property empty and untended? How will that help your property value? Ken Robinson will leave whenever the bank gets around to taking back title from the current owner. That could be years. Meanwhile, someone's helping keep your neighborhood from looking worse.
-
Jonkay3 09/02/2011 2:27:00 AM
Here's a guy with the smarts to take temporary possession by filing a $16 notice in the legal record and he's vilified as unfit by his neighbors. Would they prefer to leave the place empty and untended?
His occupancy will last only until the note holder forecloses, which can be any time in the next ten years. He would be well advised to contact the mortgagee and offer to maintain the place in exchange for free or nominal rent until the property is foreclosed and resold, which could be some years from now.
If there were more people like Ken Robinson tending and occupying vacant homes there would be less vandalism and deterioration of property values. The banks should welcome people like him and the neighbors should also.
-
Robinsuck 09/02/2011 1:24:00 AM
You know, all you cocksuckers who are saying "more power to him" must not own a fucking home of your own. If you had this element in your OWN neighborhood bringing down the value of something you worked hard for for many years I'd bet you changed your holier than thou attitudes. And who gives a fuck about the previous owner? Most DECENT people would assume that the houses in their community are at the very least bank owned and are waiting for foreclosure, short sell or ready for listing...not for some chump to take advantage of the system. As far as I'm concerned he's an asshole and will get his in the long run.
-
Squatters Suck 09/02/2011 12:56:00 AM
What the fuck are you talking about? Robinson can't afford it either if it wasn't $16. The guy is a thief and freeloader. Period. You, however are an Idiot. Regardless the cost of home "ownership" with catch up with Mr. I'm the Man for Now.
-
Toopainfulforthemtoadmit 09/01/2011 9:55:00 PM
The best part is the obvious double standard and massive blind spot the neighbors have with respect to who is the financial fraudster.
It couldn't be more clear that Ferguson, the former owner, is crooked and had no business being in that house. At minimum he couldn't make the payments and more likely he was perpetuating an even bigger crime or fraud because who just flees town, leaves the house wide open, and avoids all contact like that? The neighbors just don't want to see it -- it being the fact that this obvious criminal fraudster Ferguson was right under their nose in the midst of their delusional, fictitious little paradise of all holy property values, and there are hundreds more just like him still there that they don't want to see -- that's what it comes down to. Yet they treat Robinson as a criminal when all he has done is follow the law.
How appropriate and symbolic. Brainwashed white suburbanites who stupidly think they are "the man", blind to the financial fraud and crimes "the (real) man" is perpetuating all around them, but eager to take any opportunity to cast blame at those lower on the socioeconomic scale. SOUND FAMILIAR AMERIKA?
-
Mike Chasteen 09/01/2011 9:49:00 PM
He already gutted the place. You need to know the yard is not pristine. He's a thief and a liar, and he needs to go. All of these people worked hard for what they have. This has nothing to do with skin color. The guy breaks into a house, in a neighborhood he could never afford, cleans the pool and thinks he deserves ownership? Free place to live, profits from the contents, he's already won wether he stays or goes.
-
redheadedblonde 09/01/2011 9:04:00 PM
It's important to the story because some people feel the neighbors' reaction to his occupying the house is based on his skin color.
-

Ms Bookworm 09/01/2011 3:37:00 PM
The President is a brilliant American citizen who has what it takes to become the first black president. That's what chaps your ignorant butt. There is nothing vague about President Obama's background. What's vague is the reason behind the mental sickness that infects your mind to the point that you will do whatever mental calisthenics you're capable of in order to draw a nexus between two black men. Take your meds!

Malang413 09/01/2011 3:10:00 PM
"Fifty years old, dark-skinned and sporting a shaved head and black, neat goatee flecked with gray, Robinson moved into the house in mid-June." Your description of this person has more detail than your story. It - this article needs to be revised. What happened to the basic elements of writing ... who, what, when, where .... how, why. No wonder the observer is free. Could you take a note from the authors that write music and food reviews?
-
09/01/2011 2:45:00 PM
I stopped reading at "dark-skinned." How is a description of the occupant's complexion germane to this story? Minora may need to retake J101 along with a refresher course in just plain common sense.
-
09/01/2011 2:07:00 PM
It seems like a whole new business could be had - they used to call them "hometenders" - people under contract who look after vacant properties until they are officially sold/ titled. It seems like anyone in property preservation with the bank's budget for repairs - could make such an arrangement to contract a person to live in a foreclosed property in exchange for improvements - simular to having a tenant, with a background as a handyperson...
-
09/01/2011 1:45:00 PM
That's sad how many people hating on this man. I call it hating because it's something that has nothing to do with any of you all. He is a black man with KNOWLEDGE.So you all are hating on the fact that he enforced a law that he had knowledge of. Would this have been different if he was WHITE. Yea this is turning into a racially problem. Because white people don't like to see niggas get nothing that they got. Yea he may not legally own the house yet but he there now by the grace of GOD. You don't have to accept him but you all need to respect him. In the end whatever happen he holds the title for getting a 330,000 house for $16 right beside YOU. You all are hating so bad to the point you all are trying to find the owner of the house. Now here come some WHITE hero who gone travel and investigate where the owner is so that they can get publicity. Hating Folks you put to much energy in someone else life worry about being able to pay your mortgage next month.
-
Titus Groan 09/01/2011 1:05:00 PM
I'm interested in the owner. Why can't he be reached? Why has he shown no interest in this property? What a fascinating story.
And, even if BoA goes forward with foreclosure, does Robinson now have a lien on this property?
-

His background is as vague as Obama's. Eventually, time will unravel all.

Adverse possession is a great way to settle disputed boundaries, clear up botched titles, and clean up abandoned houses. In Texas, it requires 21 years of open, peaceable possession adverse to all other interests. I sincerely doubt whether this man can make 21 years here, but unless Bank of America asserts its prior lien interest, or the former owner comes in to take back what is still his, Mr. Robinson is actually performing a service to his neighbors. He is clearing up a title and the neighborhood. Go for it. Just be ready to move . . .
-
Ms Bookworm 09/01/2011 8:01:00 AM
"The four horsemen" say they "just wanted him to leave." This, ladies and gentlemen, is the 2011 version of a neighborly visit from the local KKK. Why do they want him to leave? He is there legally. Rather than talking to the man and getting to know whether he will be a good -- or at least unobtrusive -- neighbor, they decide to apply a wee bit of pressure. Thank God he has stood his ground. These people are simply appalled that he doesn't fit into their little Stepford. Or maybe they're just jealous. After all, how many of them are currently on the verge of foreclosure? Now wouldn't that be a kick in the head? And as for never being welcome, well, who the hell WANTS to be welcomed by that crowd?

Don't you just love surburbia..these lovely neighbors in this lovely neighborhood took a quick interest in someone who "didn't belong" , yet none of them knew or can recall anything about the previous homeowner.
