Food Fight

Like most parents probably do, we just dump cash into our kids' school lunch account and plead with them not to throw away whatever fruit or vegetable gets plopped onto the plate. But Amy Kalafa, a nutritionist and the creator of the documentary Two Angry Moms: Fighting For The Health of America's Children, cautions that most parents have no idea whether there are any fresh produce options at all, and urges parents to fight for healthier food in their kids' school cafeterias in her new book, Lunch Wars. She will sign and discuss the book 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at A Real Bookstore, 113 Prairie Road in The Village At Fairview in Fairview. Call 972-398-9888 or visit arealbookstore.com.
Tue., Sept. 20, 7-10 p.m., 2011
