Despite the fact there's a prim, frilly and old-fashioned undergarment in the title of this exhibition, you won't find any of those at Petticoats and Slide Rules: SWE, A History of Women Engineers. The exhibit features memorabilia from the Society of Women Engineer's historical collection at the Reuther Library. Celebrate female pioneers like Dr. Sally Ride, the first female to fly in space, and Emily Roebling, the woman who famously helped complete the Brooklyn Bridge which earned her the title of "first woman field engineer." Petticoats and Slide Rules is sponsored by the FLUOR Corporation and is on display through November 6. See the exhibit from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at The Women's Museum, 3800 Parry Ave. Tickets are $3 to $5, with admission free during the State Fair of Texas. For more information, call 214-915-0860 or visit thewomensmuseum.org.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: Sept. 18. Continues through Nov. 6, 2011
