Hours before the show started there were thousands of people waiting to see the band.
I found my spot and stayed put the entire show. I could see very clearly what was happening on stage. Nirvana is my favorite band, so don't take offense this. That night they sounded like shit. Maybe it was due to Van Blarcums shitty equipment.
The person who wrote this article is a liar and full of shit. This Van Blarcum guy was being a dick the entire night. Kurt did not jump off his back, he jumped off the stage into the arms of the audience. When they were shoving Kurt back to the stage Van Blarcum used Kurts face to prevent the crowd from pushing Kurt back on stage. After several seconds Kurt got pissed (as most anyone would) and proceeded to bash Van Blarcum on the head with his guitar. I could see the blood streaming down this idiots face. I couldn't believe it. Van Blarcum did punch Kurt in the back of his head but it wasn't a clean shot, if it would have been a clean shot It would have knocked Kurt out and the show would have definitely ended. Van Blarcum did retaliate and tried to attack Kurt but wasn't successful. Krist jumped in and Dave hurtled his drum set with ease to jump in as well to prevent an attack.
Van Blarcum worked security at most of the shows I went to at Trees and he was always a pompous ass. He was big dude, probably 6-2 or bigger and he probably weighed 250 pounds.
When Nirvana resumed playing they no longer sounded like shit. It turned out being a great show with a lot of added excitement.
I think Nirvana refused to return until Trees removed Van Blarcum. In any case Van Blarcum and a few of his minions waited in the shadows well after the show ended to seek revenge but were unsuccessful. They tried to attack Nirvana when they were leaving Trees, Nirvana were too quick getting in their vehicle and sped away leaving meat head and his minions running after them with great frustration.
Long live the best band you've never heard of, Deep Ellum saints Buck Pets. I regretfully missed their Trees reunion show.
