Art can be a great therapy for working through thorny emotional issues. What could be better for dealing with the trauma caused by witnessing your parents torture your brother than to write a bunch of stories about murdering children? Of course, therapy can get dicey if you're an author living in a police state whose works strangely resemble a group of murders occurring in your town. Darkly humorous and seriously disturbing, playwright Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman explores the power of storytelling. The John Anthony Theatre (2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano) will stage The Pillowman Thursday through October 16. Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and October 12-15, with 2:15 p.m. matinees Sunday and October 15 and 16. Tickets are $10 and $8 for students and seniors. Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2:15 p.m.; Sat., Oct. 15, 2:15 p.m. Starts: Oct. 6. Continues through Oct. 16, 2011
