It's not that Herman Cain is not black enough he is out of touch. Anyone who says, "If you don't have a job or you're not rich it's your fault", is out of touch with reality. Darren, the problem is not getting the i.d., the problem is, males signed up to refister to vote at the age of 18 as well as females while in high school. So with that said, they whom you are and during these economic times there are some persons that seriously can't afford to pay $16 to get an i.d nor have transportation to get there. I am not speaking for all, because there are some that just don't want to get an i.d for their own reasons. The law never and still does not state that you have to have a picture i.d on your person when you go vote. and the state is now trying to make that happen for obvious reasons to keep these legal voters away.Which is a from of discrimination that this nation has gone through in the 20's, 30's,40's, and 50's. This will affect everyone at some point whether at the polls and/ or after the "so called" popular vote election results. Again there is only one form of official i.d that is being requested and that is a state issued i.d. not a school i.d or social security card, nor a passport.

Ahhhhh times are good indeed. Not just for white people but also for writers. No longer are writers expected to write a fair and balanced piece which allows writers to write cynical and dubious articles to push their own agendas. No longer must writers be bound by facts and supporting or collaborating evidence.
With the internet and peoples general lack of interest in any kind of standards writers can write garbage proclaiming anything and realistically expect the general public to believe it because it was published on a website. Even pieces that claim that laws were written with the intent of disenfranchising a particular group of voters! Whether the article is written in a sarcastic tone or as an informative piece is irrelevant because the general public will believe anything they read. Oh what power the pen now holds!
Writers should know however that even when the piece is completely void of facts such an article claiming something overtly untrue can cause real issues and influence people in ways that are unimaginable. I have even seen articles online that have some people thinking 9/11 was masterminded by the US government, Bigfoot is real, and yes even that laws were passed specifically to disenfranchise voters.

I attended the Texas Dem Caucuses in 2008, and witnessed massive unabashed voter fraud.
Highland Village is not known for a large African American population, in fact it is beyond sparse. But on Caucus Night, appr. 300 of the 500 attendees at the 307th Precinct were African Americans. Amazingly, none of them had a driver's license or a voter registration card! They carried a little brown slip of paper which stated, I voted in the Democratic Primary. This little brown slip of paper enabled them to caucus for Barack Obama and steal our precinct away from Hillary Clinton.
I photographed the precinct reg lists each voter had to sign in to, and presented them to Credentials Staff at the Denton County Democratic Convention a few weeks later. I sent copies to the Hillary Campaign. No one contacted me or followed up. Instead, the Denton County Dems essentially fast-tracked Obama through the endorsement process with no questions asked.
In summary, the voting reforms are long overdue. We the people are done with getting burned by Kennedy electioneering in our own back yards.

I think Patrick may be pointing out the dangers of allowing legislation to pass that may just push us towards a police state. New laws left and right, 700 laws passed in April just recently went into effect. For example, a new law was recently implemented that allows the Texas highway speed limit to be raised from 60 to 75 and in some areas to 85. Well, that sounds fantastic, right? Many people might say so, but what about the unconsidered consequences? Texas continually has high DWI convictions and raising the speed limit would definitely compound an already dangerous situation. What about fuel economy? Over 60, fuel efficiency drops significantly. People also now have the new freedom of hunting hogs (with RIFLES) from helicopters. I know, I know....don't mess with our 2nd amendment....not trying to folks, but let me tell you, I live a very rural area and know lots of hunters....trust me...you would NOT want these folks flying overhead in your vicinity aiming rifles down at the ground just waiting for something to move in the bushes below.
Please correct me if I spoke out of turn, Patrick. I may be WAY off base.
But, my advice is watch out what you wish for folks.....

I wouldn't place too much weight on the Brennan Justice Center study. It is a plaintiff in several cases challenging the election laws. Then it releases its "study," which shockingly supports the plaintiff's side in those lawsuits. Hardly an unbiased source.
