Divine Inspiration

You know you're in for an interesting art show when one of the two artists featured has a disclaimer on his website explaining that it is not a hate site, rather it "exposes counterfeits and dupes in regard to religious and biblical interpretation...", that's the case with visual artist Norbert Kox's website. Through February 5, Webb Gallery will host Divine, an exhibit featuring apocalyptic and out-of-this-world paintings by artists Kox and Cathey Miller. Kox's paintings intertwine his religious beliefs with biblical text, and Miller's work is equally eccentric and otherworldly in nature. Take, for instance, her "Journey to Cathedonia" series, which depicts people and creatures -- perhaps the most outlandish is a lobster with a bird's head -- intermingling in outer space. An opening party for the exhibit will take place on 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, with music provided by DJ Wild in the Streets. Webb Gallery is at 209 W. Franklin St. in Waxahachie, 30 miles south of Dallas on Interstate 35, for more information about the gallery check out their website webbartgallery.com.
Saturdays, Sundays. Starts: Dec. 4. Continues through Feb. 5, 2011
