Please, No More Coal

Dear Santa, Well, once again I've been a fairly rotten boy, but I hope you can overlook that and make with a gift that will help improve my soiled moral character. You see, Nick -- Can I call you Nick? -- I need a new brain, one never exposed to the Internet or Beavis and Butt-Head. I want a mind that won't skip sniggering to the gutter when I read that Casa Mañana is premiering Santa Claus the Musical, which promises to explain why you go down the chimney, fill stockings and live at the North Pole. Please help me grow the fu ... uh, fudgeup. For more mature, pleasant children out there, the tune-filled adaptation of L. Frank Baum's sort-of-pagan Santa origin story promises to be simply a cheery holiday delight. It's written and directed by Joe Sturgeon, Casa Mañana's director of theater for youth. Friday's show begins at 7 p.m. and numerous performances will take the stage until December 23. Tickets are $20 or $25, and Casa Mañana Theatre is located at 3101 W. Lancaster Ave. in Fort Worth. For tickets and a complete schedule, call 817-332-2272 or visit casamanana.org.
Fridays, 7 p.m.; Saturdays, 1 & 5 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Nov. 25. Continues through Dec. 23, 2011
