Maybe you've given toys to Toys for Tots. Perhaps you spent some time camped out near City Hall on behalf of the downtrodden 99 percent. You're a good, socially conscientious soul — so don't stop now. Get behind a cause that's dear to us and greet 2012 at DFW NORML's New Year’s Eve Marijuana Masquerade at The Green Elephant, 5627 Dyer St. The party kicks off at 7 p.m. and features music from The Effinays, Joshua Sinai, Pistol Packin' Mama, Pihon, SamUill, The Gypsy Bravado and Sunshine Emery Band, along with prizes, marijuana masks and, of course, munchies. (The $10 marijuana masks are styled after marijuana leaves, not the real thing. Dang.) There'll also be performances by fire spinners twirling live flames, which, given the circumstances, could be either very entertaining or tragic. Tickets are $10 for NORML members, $20 for nonmembers and $30 for a party ticket plus NORML membership. Proceeds benefit the cause of liberalizing marijuana laws in Texas, which needs all the help it can get. For tickets, visit dfwnorml.org.
