You probably didn’t chase a squirrel around the house or have to explain to the police exactly how cousin Eddie concocted the crazy notion to kidnap your boss on Christmas Eve, but you don’t have to be part of a Griswold family Christmas to feel the stress of the holidays. Now that season is over and a new year is beginning, unwind and start 2012 with renewed energy, or at least a normal pulse rate. Yoga instructor Lisa Nersesova is kicking off the year with Yoga & Sound, a special Vinyasa workshop that’s designed to restore posture and to teach calming breathing techniques. Devotees of Vinyasa yoga focus on breathing patterns as they perform yoga poses, and this combination of breathing techniques and postures is believed to restore health and vitality. Nersesova will guide fellow yogis through a series of inversions and downward-facing dogs while leading meditative chants that aid with breathing and invigorate your body. You don’t have to be a soprano to join in the chanting, so celebrate the new year at Dallas Yoga Center, 4525 Lemmon Ave., from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday. The workshop is $35. Visit dallasyogacenter.com.
