Many Westerners are familiar with the Kama Sutra, at least insofar that it's one of the classier sexy guidebooks. But it's more than the world's oldest sexual how-to, dating from the days before Google and the Internet. It's also a guide to spirituality, love and family life in Hindu culture. The newest installment of the Boshell Family Lecture Series on Archeology explores the wide ranging nature of this ancient text with The Hindu Art of Love: Illustrating the Kama Sutra. Speaker Dr. Anne Bromberg, the DMA's Cecil and Ida Green curator of Ancient and Asian Art, heads up the lecture with a discussion focusing on the Dallas Museum of Art's collection of works that illustrate the nature ancient Hindu of love and lifestyle. This examination of banging and spiritual life takes place 7:30 p.m. January 5 at the Horchow Auditorium in the Dallas Museum of Art, 1717 North Harwood Street. Ticket price in included with general admission: $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and military personnel, $5 for students and free for DMA members and kids younger than 12. Call 214-922-1818 or visit the DallasMuseumofArt.org for more information.
