Did you know that Tuna, Texas, once was a real place? The great and mighty Texas State Historical Association posits that indeed, it was a lively little town “six miles south of Cotulla on the International and Great Northern line in west central La Salle County.” I made up the part about it being lively, but really, can’t you just envision this little town springing up around the train tracks, with its alliterative name and spunky railroad folk? I can’t really tell you what happened to Tuna proper, which disappeared off the map somewhere around 1965, but it lives on in a big way thanks to the work of playwrights Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard. Their series of comedies have introduced the world to some big personalities contained in a little Texas town and have followed their exploits for three decades. Tuna’s Greatest Hits: 30 Years of Laughtercelebrates the follies of Bertha, Didi, Petey and Pearl, and makes the audience feel right at home in a little old place called Tuna. Tonight’s performance is at 8, and the production runs through March 4 at the Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Drive. Tickets are $44 to $55 and may be purchased at eisemanncenter.com
