Things Are Pretty Gritty In The City

Sure, February's over. Rent says the seasons of love last five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes, so take that. Casa Mañana’s production of the four Tony Award-wining Broadway musical, takes you into New York's Lower East Side to explore a pocket of young artists and musicians. Directed and choreographed by Tim Bennett, the story touches on measuring life through love and finding your voice. Under the shadows of criticism, the play features an HIV positive songwriter, a lesbian performance artist, a gay drag queen percussionist with AIDS and a seamstress with tuberculosis. Not suitable for all audiences, parental discretion is advised. Casa Mañana Theatre, 3101 West Lancaster Avenue in Fort Worth. Rent runs March 3 through March 11 (With the exception of Monday, March 5). Tickets cost $40 to $65. Students get them for $20. Call 817-332-2272, or visit www.casamanana.org.
