Preview: Hotel Tesseract at LaGrange

Thursday, March 29, at LaGrange

The concept of Hotel Tesseract is spatial, with eight "rooms" filled with stories, just like any other brick-and-mortar hotel. Except this one also features visuals by VJ S(eye) and the musical accompaniment of Longear, with special guest Paul Quigg; Laura Harrell and Trey Pendergrass of Romp Almighty; pianist Adam Pickrell; Kenneth L. Kemp of Binary Sunrise; DJ Bonehead; Sunward; and The Black Dotz. Each act will provide the soundtrack for a room in the "hyper-dimensional sensory hotel," and though the name might lead you to believe you'll end up in a chill-out lounge, the vibe is a bit more experimental and theatrical.

A tesseract in "A Wrinkle in Time" was a wrinkle in time. Just the technical term for it in the book. Time folding over on itself. Since the fourth dimension is purportedly time, for a cube to fold over on itself would create the shape of a tesseract. Still, a fun name for a hotel.

Interesting name. Tesseract was one of the evil characters in the book "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madelene L'Engle that I read in 1968. My introduction to science fiction at 12. I'll have to visit this hotel someday soon. Update: Nothing to do with science fiction turns out. I Googled it: "..an 8-cell or regular octachoron or cubic prism, is the four-dimensional analog of the cube." Cool, still gonna check it out.
