The Second Floor (13340 Dallas Parkway): This three-course meal is frustrating because it has so many delicious options that you might have to pose as your own twin. Do you start with the vanilla bean crepes or the radicchio and leek risotto? And then do you scarf down the slow-braised short rib in veal jus or the lobster omelet with fresh mozzarella, lobster bisque and pommes frites? Dessert poses its own set of challenges: Blueberry-apple cobbler or spiced rum cake? The only obvious decision is splurging the extra 20 bones on booze pairings. You love gospel music but your stigmata gets extra active in a church setting — no problem. House of Blues (2200 N. Lamar St.) does a rockin’ gospel brunch with pageantry, booming voices and — wait for it — buffet. Wear your nicest sweats, because you’ll pop a button sampling homemade waffles, that omelet station, Southern fried chicken, homemade macaroni and cheese, Creole chicken and shrimp jambalaya, carved smoked turkey and country gravy. The last is a dark horse candidate. If you prefer playing pool and boozing to multihour waits, Bryan Street Tavern (4315 Bryan St.) has started serving brunch every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
