Gruesome horror flick The Evil Dead and its tongue-in-cheek sequels, Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness, are just about as good as movies can get. So if you've ever had the notion that they would be improved by combing all three films into a single theater production and adding music, you're a weirdo. But apparently original director Sam Raimi and star Bruce Campbell are weirdos too, as they've approved Evil Dead: The Musical. They must have loved the idea of a “splatter zone,” where audience members are gleefully sprayed with gore. Marathon performances of the show begin at 8 p.m. Friday at the Ohlook Black Box, 316 S. Barton St. in Grapevine, repeating about every two-and-a-half hours as long as cast members can stay on their feet, or until Ash gets too tired to lift his chain-saw prosthetic. Tickets are $15 to $25 with proceeds funding the theater's Dog Sees God cast trip to the Liverpool International Theatre Festival in Nova Scotia, Canada. Call 817-421-2825 or visit ohlookperform for tickets and more information, and bring your own chair and booze.
