Oh, good morrow, ye turkey leg and man with non-ironic leggings and non-ironic, odd beret-like cap upon his furry face! It’s that time of year again, Metroplexians! It’s time to run into that backed-up-out-of-nowhere traffic on Interstate 35 South near Ennis, where you eventually say to yourself, “Oh, crap, it’s that Renaissance thing again. I totally should’ve taken 45 and crossed back over to 35 later!” In all actuality, the annual Scarborough Renaissance Festival has become a fun tradition for families and turkey lovers since it began in Waxahachie in 1981. Take in jousting, turkey legs, maidens in pantaloons and bosom-baring corsets, turkey legs and glassblowing demonstrations over the course of the festival’s eight-week run on Saturdays and Sundays — plus Memorial Day — through May 28. Tickets are $24 for adults and $9 for children ages 5-12. The fair, located at 2511 FM 66, is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Visit srfestival.com for information, tickets and questions regarding how many turkey legs are sold each year.
Saturdays, Sundays, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Mon., May 28, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Starts: April 28. Continues through May 28, 2012
