In the legacy of troubled troubadours, he's still just as tormented by addiction, heartache and a sense that the world is inexorably pressing down. But pain fuels his latest release, Nothing's Gonna Change the Way You Feel About Me Now, with the writerly evocation of his middle-namesake and the ear of his father. Tracks like "Unfortunately Anna" are simple and insistent, displaying a craftsman's growth.
