More About

You probably expend a ton of mental energy thinking to yourself, “Tap dancing sounds neat, but where did it come from?” Sit tight, little buddy, I’m about to tell you all about it. Turns out tap dancing has been around since the 1600s and get this — it’s uniquely American. And while tap didn’t become popular until the vaudevillian days of the late 1800s and early 1900s, you can help make it even more popular Friday by attending National Tap Dance Day at Arts Fifth Avenue, 1628 15th St., Fort Worth. Admission is free and the Big Show, featuring more than 13 performance groups, starts at 8 p.m. Special guests Ron Young (he appeared in Annie!) and Sarah Petronio (she’s legendary!) will be there too. Concessions and T-shirts will be available for purchase and there’s even a silent auction benefiting the A5A Scholarship Fund. For more info, head to artsfifthavenue.org.
Fri., May 25, 7 p.m., 2012
