Go ahead and turn your phone off, you won't need it this weekend. Those scamps at Aviation Cinemas have put together the Oak Cliff Film Festival, a four-day immersion in the best indie cinema imaginable. In addition to highlighting work by emerging and established talents, this festival is a wonderful opportunity to visit your favorite historical hot spots around Oak Cliff and downtown Dallas. Kicking things off tonight at Texas Theatre is the black and white, switchblade swinging, intergalactic sci-fi serenade, The Ghastly Love of Johnny X at 7:30 p.m. (Warning: this film might induce spontaneous go-go dancing.) If you can hologram yourself, you'll want to materialize at the Belmont for a brilliant dose of camp cinema, when Tuesday Night Trash screens the Italian Jaws rip-off, Monster Shark, poolside at 9 p.m. Don't get too comfortable; your attendance is mandatory back at Texas Theatre starting at 10 p.m. For the O.C.F.F.'s kick off party with King Bucks.
