Straight outta ... Israel? The MacGorman Performing Arts Center at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth (4616 Stanley Ave.) will open a new exhibit titled Dead Sea Scrolls & the Bible: Ancient Artifacts, Timeless Treasures starting Monday. The exhibit will display 16 fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls, including seven that have not been publicly displayed, a large fragment from a Genesis scroll and a papyri scroll fragment from the New Testament. Alongside the scroll fragments will be other artifacts from the Qumran settlement where the scrolls were found. The exhibit will also give visitors a chance to view the fragments with the same tools that researchers use. Feel like channeling your inner archaeologist? The exhibition will host a simulated dig site that allows visitors to get a taste of what archaeologists do in the field and dig for their own artifacts. The exhibition opens July 2 and will run through January 13. For more information and tickets, visit seethescrolls.com or call 877-789-0876.
Mondays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sundays, 1-7 p.m. Starts: July 2. Continues through Jan. 13, 2012
