Bring out the wine, pop on a beret and a broadly striped shirt and celebrate like the French — trust us, they really dress that way — at the third annual Bastille on Bishop Street Festival at Oak Cliff on the 400 block of North Bishop Boulevard (at Bishop and 7th Street). Chefs will compete in a mussel competition and local reporters will judge their culinary skills (though we’d much prefer to see the striking muscle-man poses). French maid relays? Oui likee. C’mon, ladies (and a few gentleman), take out those costumes we know you have stashed somewhere inside that closet. Cirque performances, mime shows and scooter rallies will all be part of this French celebration. Dance to the mellow bellows of the accordion or let loose in a game of petanque (a French version of lawn bowling). This French invasion will take place 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday. It’s free.
