More About

Aside from the promise of complimentary snacks, there is no better reason to unite than literature. And this weekend, South Dallas has what you need. Now in its 10th year, the Tulisoma South Dallas Book Fair and Arts Festivalhas grown into a full-force, three-day gathering of popular authors, workshops, children’s programs, panel discussions and poetry. More than 20 writers will be on hand to help turn you on to new literary love affairs, so pop on over and say hello. You’ll also have an opportunity to learn more about the city you inhabit during Friday’s Heart and Soul Tour, which guides its travelers through different Dallas historical sites. The only portion of the event that isn’t free is Sunday’s Gospel Brunch, and even then $15 doesn’t seem excessive for a meal, entertainment and a lecture by Dr. Michael W. Waters. It’s primarily held at the African American Museum, at 3635 Grand Ave., but young adult programming will be at the South Dallas Cultural Center, at 3400 S. Fitzhugh Ave., and Gospel Brunch will raise the rafters of Joy Tabernacle A.M.E. Church, at 3203 Holmes St. Visit tulisoma.org.
